Interview With The Summer Solstice Selby UFO Sighting Eyewitness
As I figured that many people would have questions about the UAP / UFO sighting over Selby, North Yorkshire, I decided to do a Q&A session to answer a few questions that people might have. I’m still hopeful that someone, somewhere, might have seen the events of that night, too. Please get in touch via the comment section if you have any questions or if you witnessed anything unusual on the evening of the 21st, going into the morning of the 22nd of June 2025.
Section 1: Establishing Context and Authenticity
Q: Can you walk us through your initial reaction upon noticing the bright light in the sky? Was there anything that immediately stood out to you?
A: Well, at first we thought it was a star. The first thing that I noticed was that there were no other visible stars, as it was quite cloudy. Then I noticed it moving, but not like a conventional aircraft. It moved left to right, stopped and reversed. It even performed circular movements.
Q: Were there any other people (besides your wife) present during the sighting who might have observed the phenomenon as well?
A: Not that I am aware of. I’m hoping that someone will get in touch who saw the events of that night.
Q: Did you have prior knowledge of or interest in aerial phenomena or UFOs before this experience?
A: Yes, it’s fair to say that I am very interested in all things paranormal. I’m always looking up at the sky, but I’ve never seen anything similar to the events of that night.
Q: Were there any notable environmental conditions (temperature, sound, smells, etc.) that marked the night as unusual, apart from the sighting itself?
A: It was very humid, and storms were predicted. After doing some research, I found that there was a lightning storm about 70 miles from my location in Selby. There were no unusual smells, and the objects made no sound.
Section 2: Detailing the Observations
Q: Could you describe the movements of these lights? Specifically, how did their speed and trajectory compare with conventional aircraft or celestial phenomena you’ve previously observed?
A: The initial bright light was the most active. It would move slowly and then quickly accelerate, flying in all directions very quickly before coming to an immediate stop. The object would also fly in circular motions. It did this for hours! The other lights appeared to be synchronised most of the time, but would sometimes move independently. Although quite far apart, they would all move together as though they were connected.
Q: You mentioned that the lights sometimes moved in synchronisation and sometimes independently. Could you elaborate on those patterns? Did they seem coordinated or random?
A: They definitely appeared to be very coordinated. After seeing the first initial light, a group of three additional lights moved in from my right, and later another group of 4 lights came in from the left. Both groups moved in the direction of the original bright light. They moved as two separate groups but would occasionally move independently in all directions. All of the lights looked like stars with no flashing beacons or anything like that.
Q: The presence of lightning without thunder was noted during the sighting. Do you think there might have been a connection between the lightning and the objects’ activity?
A: I did wonder if this might be some kind of atmospheric anomaly. There were lots of flashes that lit up the sky, with no thunder being heard. I did some research and found that there was a lightning storm around 70 miles away. So this would explain the flashes without hearing any sound. I have heard that UFO sightings tend to increase during stormy weather, but I don’t know if the two are connected.
Q: Could you provide more details about the final two lights that sped across the sky around 3 a.m.? For instance, could you estimate their size or distance?
A: Sure, I would say that these objects were a little bigger than a star. They flew from the West in a straight line until they got approximately halfway across the sky, then bent off and flew in an arc shape, disappearing over the horizon. There was one light that did this, and then another followed a few minutes later, following a similar flight path. The speed was incredible, much faster than conventional aircraft but slower than a shooting star. Both objects stayed bright and didn’t fade or show any kind of flashing lights.
Section 3: Emotional and Psychological Impact
Q: How did you feel in the moment as the events unravelled? Was it primarily amazement, fear, curiosity, or a mix of emotions?
A: It was just total amazement from beginning to end. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Q: After the sighting, did discussing it with others (like your wife) impact your perception of the event?
A: Not really. I’ve always been interested in all things paranormal, and I definitely believe that there are things out there that we simply don’t understand fully. I’m also grounded enough to try and come up with rational explanations before jumping to the conclusion that this could be extraterrestrial.
Q: Did you notice any changes to your perspective on science, technology, or the possibility of extraterrestrial life after this event?
A: This event has left me with many questions! Could the lights be some kind of advanced government technology? I know that military drones can stay up in the sky for hours, but they had no flashing lights, which I believe are present on all drones, both military and commercial. One thing that blows my mind is the fact that I tried recording some of the events on my phone. That footage completely disappeared from my phone without a trace. I can’t explain that.
Q: Have you experienced any difficulty explaining the event to others? If so, why do you think it’s challenging?
A: The event only happened a couple of days ago, so I’ve not told many people. The morning after the event, I started documenting what had happened whilst it was fresh in my mind. I don’t think that I’ll ever forget it! But I documented the event so that I don’t forget the details. I don’t really expect people to believe me to be honest. I think it’s one of those things that you have to see with your own eyes to believe.
Section 4: Technical and Anomalous Details
Q: Could you describe the process of filming and what went through your mind when you discovered the footage was missing?
A: Yes, that’s certainly a big mystery to me! During the event, I found it hard to take my eyes off what was happening, but decided that I should at least try to capture something. I pointed my phone at the sky and started recording video. I couldn’t see anything of the objects through my phone; it isn’t great at capturing nighttime images. But I continued to film, hoping that something would show up on the playback. However, that footage was never seen as it was completely missing from my phone the next morning.
This was the icing on the cake for me! The events of that night were weird to say the least, but when I discovered that the footage was missing, I was shocked. I’ve searched my phone thoroughly, and it’s simply not there. I even tested my phone to see if there was something wrong with it. It’s working normally, no glitches, nothing unusual at all. I wondered if this had been some kind of advanced blocking technology or something? I just can’t explain it.
Q: Did you notice any other technical anomalies with your phone or other devices during or after the sighting?
A: Absolutely not. My phone worked as normal and appeared to be recording as it normally would during the event, and it still works normally now.
Q: Can you share about the phone you used for recording? For example, was its storage space full or near capacity at the time?
A: It’s a Sony Xperia phone with 128 GB storage space. The phone has 25% storage space remaining. There would have been plenty of space for my recording.
Q: Were there other aspects of the experience (sounds, flashes of light, etc.) that you couldn’t identify but feel are worth mentioning?
A: There was certainly a lot going on that night. I enjoy a bit of star gazing and have seen many shooting stars, comets, the space station and countless satellites. This was something very different! But whilst watching the objects, I also saw quick flashes of light in the sky in the vicinity of the objects. I thought this might be meteors hitting the Earth’s atmosphere, but I checked and there were no reported meteor storms that night. Plus, I’ve witnessed meteor storms, and this was different. They were like very quick flashes that were only visible for a slit second. I only noticed these in close proximity to the objects.
Section 5: Theories and Explanations
Q: Based on what you observed, do you have any theories about what the lights might have been (e.g., drones, military aircraft, extraterrestrial craft)?
A: I really don’t want to jump to any conclusions at this time. I’m still doing my own research. The lights that I saw were certainly like nothing I had ever seen. I’ve ruled out conventional drones because of the time scale. I watched these things for hours, so definitely not normal drones. Military drones? Maybe? But their movement was odd to say the least. These lights appeared to be communicating with each other as well as moving independently. I would expect military drones to be more covert, hidden from sight, although I’m no expert on that kind of thing. It definitely wasn’t any sort of normal aircraft. Conventional aircraft don’t move in random directions like these lights did. Extraterrestrial? I just don’t know. But when you rule every other possibility out of the equation, I guess this is certainly a theory.
Q: Do you think the event could have been a natural phenomenon, such as ball lightning or meteorological activity?
A: I did consider that, yes. There were storms forecast, so there might be a connection? However, after doing a bit of research on ball lightning, I’ve also ruled that out. Ball lightning has different characteristics from the lights that I saw. And ball lightning doesn’t last for hours. From what I have read, bursts of ball lightning only last for a couple of minutes at the most. Not 4 or 5 hours like the event that I witnessed.
Q: Have you done any further research or sought expert opinions on what you observed that night? If so, what did you find?
A: My research into this event is still ongoing. I have filed a report with NUFORC.org in the hope that they might have some answers. I’m also hoping that someone else may have seen these events in the area, and that’s why I’m posting my story and research online.
Q: Finally, do you believe this event was a one-time occurrence, or do you think similar phenomena could happen again in the same area?
A: Well, I didn’t realise this until I started doing a bit of research into this event, but it seems that there are lots of UFO reports with similar characteristics. A few over the past few years have been reported in the same area where I live. This certainly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime event to me. But who knows? I’ll certainly be paying closer attention to the sky from now on.
Further Research Into The Selby UFO Sighting
UFO Sightings & Similarities In The Selby Area
Research shows that there have been several “reported” UFO sightings in the Selby, North Yorkshire area. Some share intriguing similarities with the events of the 21/6/25 – 22/6/25 . Here’s a comparison based on the research:
- NUFORC Report (2001):
- A bright, disc-shaped object was observed near Selby, travelling at an intense speed. Witnesses initially thought it was a shooting star but noted its disc shape and rapid movement. The object was described as too bright and fast to be a conventional aircraft.
- Selby UFO Sighting (2010):
- A local resident reported a bright white light moving silently and low in the sky. The object displayed unusual flight behaviour, including shooting upwards at a steep angle and disappearing into space. Attempts to film the event were unsuccessful due to technical difficulties. – Read more about this event here.
- York UFO Sighting (2024):
- A video captured in York showed a possible UFO dropping from the sky, causing a stir among locals. While details are limited, the sighting involved unusual aerial behaviour.
Similarities To The Selby UFO Sighting 21/6/25
- Bright Lights: All events involved bright, star-like lights or objects.
- Unusual Movements: The objects displayed flight patterns that defy conventional aircraft capabilities, such as abrupt stops, reversals, and steep ascents.
- Technical Anomalies: Like my missing footage, the 2010 Selby witness also struggled to capture the event on camera.
- Silent Operation: The objects were silent, unlike typical aircraft or drones.
The Selby UAP/UFO sighting adds to the growing body of UFO sightings in the Yorkshire area, particularly around Selby. The synchronisation of lights and the technical anomaly with my phone are especially compelling.
Selby in Context: UFO Sightings Across England
Whilst the Selby UFO sighting stands out for its duration and complexity, comparisons to other UFO sightings across England reveal startling consistencies. From the bright lights of Kent to the infamous Rendlesham Forest encounter, England has seen its share of puzzling events in its skies.
The 2025 Kent Sightings
Just a few weeks prior to the Selby event, Kent became a focal point for UFO enthusiasts. Reports included a mass sighting of 1,000 lights over Tonbridge and Malling and a hovering object in Gravesend that lingered for 30 minutes. Witnesses described synchronised lights similar to those seen in Selby, further cementing 2025 as a banner year for UFO reports.

Bonnybridge and Warminster Hotspots
Bonnybridge in Scotland, often called “the UFO Capital,” is home to an average of 300 sightings annually, with reports of triangular craft and erratic light patterns dominating the area. Similarly, Warminster in Wiltshire rose to prominence in the 1960s for frequent sightings tied to glowing orbs and strange atmospheric sounds.
Rendlesham Forest Incident
The 1980 Rendlesham Forest incident remains one of England’s most famous UFO cases. U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in Suffolk reportedly saw a metallic craft emitting beams of light, leaving physical evidence in a nearby clearing. Like the Selby sighting, this event involved credible witnesses documenting erratic movement patterns and unexplained light displays.
Connecting the Dots
The similarities across these events reveal recurring themes that provide a framework for analysing UFO phenomena:
Bright Lights
Bright, star-like lights are nearly ubiquitous in UFO accounts. Whether single objects, clusters, or formations, the luminosity often makes these sightings stand out against the night sky.
Unconventional Movements
Flight patterns that defy conventional mechanics are another hallmark, as displayed in Selby, Kent, and Rendlesham Forest. Abrupt stops, reversals, zigzags, and seemingly synchronised motions suggest advanced intelligence or technology.
Silent Operations
One of the most baffling elements in many cases, including the Selby UFO sighting, is the eerie silence of the objects. Witnesses often report no engine noise, a detail that further distances these sightings from standard aircraft or drones.
Missing or Distorted Evidence
The disappearance of recorded footage during the Selby incident evokes other technical anomalies reported in similar cases. These instances raise questions about possible electromagnetic interference or other factors that impede documentation.
Final Thoughts
The Summer Solstice 2025 Selby UFO sighting is a testament to the enduring mystery surrounding UFO phenomena. When placed alongside other significant events like the Kent sightings or the Rendlesham Forest incident, it underscores the need for continued research and open dialogue. By documenting experiences carefully and reporting them through credible channels, witnesses can contribute to separating fact from fiction.
Please reach out and share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section. Did you witness anything strange on the evening of the 2025 Summer Solstice? We’d love to hear your stories and opinions!

This follow-up was absolutely fascinating—thank you for taking the time to document everything so thoroughly. I really appreciated the Q&A format; it gave the whole experience a grounded, personal touch while still allowing space for all the mystery.
The part that struck me most was the missing footage. It’s one thing to witness something unexplainable, but to have your only recording vanish without a trace? That adds a whole new layer of intrigue. Also, your calm, rational approach to the whole situation makes it even more compelling, especially how you’re open to both scientific and more “out there” possibilities.
I’m really curious—has anyone else from Selby or nearby areas come forward with similar sightings since Part 1 was published? I feel like this experience could be part of a larger puzzle waiting to be pieced together.
Looking forward to any updates you might share. This is one story I won’t forget anytime soon.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to read and reply to both parts of my story. I wanted to document everything as quickly as possible so that it was fresh in my mind. It’s still a big mystery to me!
The missing footage was something really odd, as I remember looking at my phone and seeing it record the video. I couldn’t see much through my camera, but it was definitely recording! But as I start to dig a bit deeper, I’ve discovered several accounts with similar technical issues whilst trying to capture evidence.
It’s only been a couple of days since the event, so no I’ve not heard from anyone yet in the Selby area. I’m hopeful that someone will see this post.
I’ll be sure to post any further updates should anything more come to light.
Thanks again!
That is so strange that the footage taken went missing. It is almost like it wasn’t meant to be discovered by anyone. It would also be very strange if nobody else noticed this sighting, as I am sure there must have been other people in the area at that time, and the sky is such a wide base to look at, people from miles around should have seen something if they were looking up.
It is always so interesting when people see these strange phenomena and nobody can explain them. It just makes me more curious. I hope that someday soon all our questions will be answered.
Hi Michel, Thank you for posting your thoughts on my post. Regarding the missing footage, I know that some people will roll their eyes and say that the missing video was very convenient, but it’s one of the strangest parts of this mystery. I know that the video was recording at the time for sure. It’s weird because the main, central bright light that we saw almost looked like it wanted to stay in sight. It appeared to move out of the way of the approaching cloud and zigzagged its way between the clouds. I figured if it was some kind of military drone or something, it might be scanning the ground? I also wondered if that was the case, if there might be some kind of technology that could disable the recording process. It’s just weird because I know it was recording, but the footage is gone.
Thanks again for posting your thoughts. I really appreciate it.
The interview adds a gripping personal layer to the Selby UFO sighting and raises fascinating questions about the consistency of eyewitness reports. I found the description of the object’s movement and silence particularly intriguing. Those details often show up in credible accounts. Did you ever consider any kind of psychological or physiological evaluation afterwards to rule out external factors?
Also, has there been any effort to triangulate the sighting with others in nearby areas or compare it to military flight paths that night? I’ve spoken to someone who had a similar experience in the countryside: completely silent and hovering lights. These kinds of overlaps make me wonder how much we’re still missing.
Thank you so much for your comment! You’ve raised fascinating points, and I appreciate your enthusiasm for digging deeper into this mysterious event. To address your first question about psychological or physiological evaluations. No, I have not considered that at this stage.
Regarding triangulating the sighting with others or comparing it to military flight paths, I have filed a report with NUFORC.org, and we’re hopeful that additional data might surface. The Selby area has had a history of UFO reports, and aligning this incident with others could reveal intriguing patterns. It’s exciting to hear you’ve connected with someone who experienced something similar in the countryside. Those silent, hovering lights do seem to be a recurring theme that deserves more attention.
If anyone else reading this has had a similar experience, please do share it here! Stories like these could help piece together a larger puzzle. Meanwhile, keep looking up! There’s something strange going on up there. Not sure what it is, but you have to see it to believe it.
Thanks again for your insightful comment and for being an active part of this conversation. If there’s anything else you’d like to explore or discuss, feel free to chime in!
